As we transition from summer to fall, there are numerous things to look forward to. Football is starting up, Halloween is right around the corner, and we can once again head out to the cider mill on a brisk, fall afternoon. As far as activities go, spending an afternoon eating warm donuts and drinking fresh apple cider is hard to beat, and Metro Detroit has plenty of great cider mills where we can do just that. Here are five local cider mills that we think are perfect for a fall afternoon.

Diehl’s Orchard and Cider Mill

Diehl’s Orchard and Cider Mill has been a staple in Holly for over 60 years. Offering hot, cold, and slushy cider alongside hot donuts, Diehl’s is the perfect place to spend a fall afternoon. There are even weekend Hayrides and you can sign up for their Dinner and a Hayride here.

Diehl’s will also be hosting the Ciderfest Run 2017 on Saturday, September 23.

Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill

With award winning cider, freshly baked donuts, and a wide variety of apples, Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill is certainly one of the best fall experiences around. Families can enjoy a scenic wagon ride, looking at farm animals, and picking out their favorite pumpkins just in time for Halloween.

From transporting food and goods to having enough room for pets and family, owning the right SUV is essential for pet owners. See the available features that make the Chevy Tahoe a pet lover's dream.

Blake’s Orchards and Cider Mill

Blake’s Orchards and Cider Mill is one of the more popular choices for families in southeast Michigan. Blake’s has over 500 acres of orchard and farmland with pick-your-own apples, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, peaches, pumpkins, and U-cut Christmas trees. Family entertainment includes train rides, pony rides, hayrides, and cornfield mazes.

Yates Cider Mill

No metro Detroit cider mill list is complete without mention of Yates Cider Mill in Rochester Hills. Not only does it feature delicious cold, hot, and even frozen cider, it’s one of the most scenic views in the area. With a beautiful river and a nature walk, Yates is a great place to take an afternoon stroll. There is also a petting zoo and an apple tent with a wide range of delicious apples to choose from. Goodison Cider Mill

The Goodison Cider Mill takes pride in their old fashioned and century-old pressed fresh apple cider. What makes this cider mill stand out is their bakery, which features their world famous Pistachio Nut Bread and a wide variety of pies, donuts, jams, apples, caramel apples, and other treats. There is also a large play area for kids to enjoy.
